The Magical Recipe Tree

Welcome

The idea for storing my most used recipes online came after a period of having my recipes and cookbooks tucked away in storage. The ease and convenience of having them available at the push of an internet button was simply to good to resist! As much as I love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen, I didn't create the majority of recipes on this site, I merely love to use them, but I'll attempt to document every recipe I know the origin of.
As a pescetarian, the selection of recipes will reflect this- but there will still be a few family recipes included from my pre-pesc years... though I aim to convert these to pesc-friendly dishes at some stage!

Mum's Spiced Banana Loaf

Dry ingredients:
1 cup wholewheat flour
1 cup plain flour
2 tsp baking powder

Ingredients:
5 tablespoons brown sugar
2 ounces butter
1 egg
½ cup buttermilk
3 old bananas, mashed and seasoned with:
   1 tsp ground cinammon
   1 tsp ground Jamaican 'allspice'
   1 tsp vanilla
Sliced almonds

DOUBLE SIFT the dry ingredients.

In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar together.
Add the egg and buttermilk to the creamed mixture.
Mix the spiced mashed banana into the creamed mixture.
Add flour- but don't mix too much now.
Add chopped dry bananas.

Place cake batter into a greased pan.
Shake sliced almonds over top and press in with tip of knife.
Shake to remove air.

Bake at 160ºC for 65 minutes.
