In a pot melt 4 oz butter and 4 oz sugar and 1Tbsp golden syrup. (Don't let it boil.)
Remove from heat and cool.
Add one beaten egg. Stir and add 1 1/2 cups flour, 2 tsp spice (mixed spice, all spice), 2tsp cinnamon, 1tsp baking powder.
Stir. It's quite thick so add just enough milk (you don't want it runny) to a smooth consistency. Not thick-thick, not runny.
Put in a slice tin (20x30) and bake in the oven at 180 celcius.
ICING
good Tbsp butter, and pour boiling water over, til melted. Then pour icing sugar over and keep beating til ready.
Spread over the slice once cool and sprinkle with (red) jelly crystals.
